About B & M O’Brien Brothers Ltd
B & M O’Brien Brothers Ltd are a young, progressive company based in Barryroe, West Cork, specialising in all aspects of groundworks, civil engineering projects, agricultural buildings and concrete works.
The company has gradually diversified into two main aspects of work; Civil engineering and agricultural building works. We have a large selection of machinery including a range of excavators from 20 ton to 2 ton, dumpers from 25 ton to 1 ton, and loadalls including a 21 metre rotary and a 17 metre straight loadall. We employ around 15 people directly, each of whom help us to meet and exceed the standards we have always set ourselves. It is these resources that have allowed us to grow steadily with confidence and also gives our customers confidence in our ability to deliver what they are looking for.
We cover up an area of up to 50 km radius from our base, and have built up a solid reputation within this area for outstanding quality of workmanship, as well as getting contracts completed on time and on budget.
Due to having a hands-on approach in the day-to-day running of the business, we have built up excellent working relationships with both our customers and our employee’s. This has resulted in continuous repeat custom which speaks volumes for the quality and value that we can offer.
We are continuously looking for ways to improve our services and offer our customers best value for money, which see’s regular investments in the latest machinery and technology.

Our History
Established for over 3 years as a limited company, and previously over 20 years as O’Brien Plant Hire, Bernard and Mike O’Brien, along with their parents Michael and Eileen O’Brien, have grown to be a company specialising in groundworks, main drainage, concrete works, agricultural buildings and plant hire.
Having originally purchased a rubber tyre digger in 1995 as a service to local farmers, Michael O’Brien Snr quickly grew the business to the point where he purchased his first excavator in the year 1998. As Bernard started to develop his skills on diggers, a second brand new rubber tyre followed in 2001 to work on local building sites. This was the beginning of the business diversifying and specialising in two sectors: Agriculture and Construction.
The business continued to grow steadily, gradually building up both its employee numbers and machine numbers. As Mike Jnr also joined the business, it became a limited company in 2014 and this allowed further growth due to a hands-on approach to all aspects of the work undertaken by everyone involved.
It was this approach, along with the sourcing of top quality local employees that has allowed B & M O’Brien to grow to today employing 15 people and growing, as well as a large variety of machines to tackle any job, large or small, in both the agricultural and construction industries.
